The company said: \"If policy makers play their role in the next few years, the cost of electric vehicles should be equal to gasoline vehicles by the mid-2020s.\"

Environmentalists called on Lyft and Uber, a larger competitor, to conduct electrification reforms. A study in February found that online cars generate about 50% more carbon emissions than private cars.

Uber has not made a full commitment to the transformation of electricity, but has now provided partial subsidies for drivers to buy electric vehicles in London.

Electric vehicles are currently more expensive than fuel vehicles, but over time, the comparable cost of running and maintaining them is lower.

Lyft said that the price of online car rental in the future electric vehicle era may be much lower than it is now.
