In August, my country sold 109,000 new energy vehicles and installed 5.1GWh of power batteries

On September 10, the China Automobile Association held an online monthly information conference to announce the production and sales of the automobile industry in August 2020. In August 2020, my country's auto sales reached 2.186 million units, a year-on-year increase of 11.6% and a month-on-month increase of 3.5%. Among them, passenger vehicle sales in August were 1.755 million, a year-on-year increase of 6.0% and a month-on-month increase of 5.4%. From January to August, the cumulative sales of automobiles in my country was 14.551 million, a year-on-year decrease of 9.7%. Among them, the cumulative sales of passenger vehicles from January to August was 11.288 million, a year-on-year decrease of 15.4%.

It is worth noting that after sales turned positive in July, the production and sales of new energy vehicles in August again exceeded 100,000.In August, the production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 106,000 and 109,000 respectively, an increase of 6.0% and 11.7% month-on-month and an increase of 17.7% and 25.8% year-on-year.Among the main varieties of new energy vehicles, the production and sales of pure electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles both increased month-on-month and year-on-year. From the perspective of the breakdown of energy types, the production and sales of pure electric vehicles were 82,000 and 88,000 respectively, an increase of 7.6% and 25.6% year-on-year; the production and sales of plug-in hybrid vehicles were 24,000 and 21,000, respectively. An increase of 73% and 26.1%.

From January to August, the production and sales of new energy vehicles were 602,000 and 596,000, a year-on-year decrease of 26.2% and 26.4%, respectively. The rate of decrease was 5.5 percentage points and 6.4 percentage points smaller than that from January to July.Among the main types of new energy vehicles, compared with the same period of the previous year, the production and sales of pure electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles both declined year-on-year, and the decline continued to narrow compared to January-July. The production and sales of pure electric vehicles were 461,000 and 466,000, down 30.2% and 27.8% year-on-year; the production and sales of plug-in hybrid vehicles were 141,000 and 129,000, down 9.3% and 20.8% respectively.

Among them, the sales of new energy passenger vehicles in August was 100 thousand, a year-on-year increase of 23.1% and a month-on-month increase of 13.0%; from January to August, the cumulative sales of new energy passenger vehicles was 537,000, a year-on-year decrease of 27.1%.

In addition, the production and sales of fuel cell vehicles increased rapidly this month, and their performance was significantly better than last month.In August, the production and sales of fuel cell vehicles were 97 and 121, respectively, an increase of 438.9% and 536.8% year-on-year. From January to August, the production and sales of fuel cell vehicles were 567 and 578 respectively, down 52.3% and 48.6% year-on-year.

At the meeting, the China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance released data on the production, sales and installation of new energy vehicle batteries in August 2020.

In August, my country's power battery production totaled 7.45GWh, an increase of 11.7.4% year-on-year and a month-on-month increase of 22.4%.Among them, ternary battery output was 4.4GWh, accounting for 58.7% of total output, down 4.3% year-on-year, and up 33.4% month-on-month; lithium iron phosphate battery output was 3GWh, accounting for 40.4% of total output, up 45.4% year-on-year and 8.5% month-on-month.

From January to August, my country’s power battery production totaled 37.1GWh, a cumulative decrease of 33.6% year-on-year.Among them, the cumulative output of ternary batteries was 22.4GWh, accounting for 60.5% of the total output, a cumulative decrease of 38.1% year-on-year; the cumulative output of lithium iron phosphate batteries was 14.5GWh, accounting for 39% of the total output, a cumulative decrease of 16.8%.

In August, the installed capacity of power batteries in my country was 5.1GWh, a year-on-year increase of 48.3% and a month-on-month increase of 2.2%.Among them, the total installed capacity of ternary batteries was 3.5GWh, an increase of 30% year-on-year and 7.9% month-on-month; the total installed capacity of lithium iron phosphate batteries was 1.6GWh, a year-on-year decrease of 144%, and the month-on-month decrease was 9.6%.

From January to August, my country’s power battery installed capacity totaled 27.6GWh, a cumulative decrease of 27.6% year-on-year.Among them, the cumulative installed volume of ternary batteries was 19.4GWh, accounting for 70.2% of the total installed vehicles, a cumulative decrease of 32.2% year-on-year; the cumulative installed capacity of lithium iron phosphate batteries was 8GWh, accounting for 29.1% of the total installed vehicles, a cumulative decrease of 27.1% year-on-year.

In August, a total of 44 power battery companies in my country's new energy vehicle market realized the installation of vehicles. The top 3, top 5, and top 10 power battery companies have installed power batteries of 3.6GWh, 4.2GWh and 4.7GWh, respectively, accounting for 70.9%, 81.5% and 92.3% of the total installed vehicles.

From January to August, a total of 60 power battery companies in my country’s new energy vehicle market realized the installation of vehicles, a decrease of 6 compared with the same period last year. The top 3, top 5, and top 10 power battery companies have installed power batteries respectively. 20.1GWh, 23.1GWh and 25.7GWh, accounting for 72.9%, 83.5% and 93.2% of the total vehicle load respectively.

In addition, the China Electric Charging Infrastructure Promotion Alliance released charging pile operating data for August 2020.As of August 2020, members of the alliance have reported a total of 592,000 public charging piles.Among them, 341,000 are AC charging piles, 250000 are DC charging piles, and 488 are AC and DC integrated charging piles. From September 2019 to August 2020, about 11,000 public charging piles were added every month.

From January to August, the charging infrastructure increased to 163,000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 40.1%.The overall charging infrastructure has maintained a relatively low growth rate this year. As of August 2020, the cumulative number of charging infrastructure nationwide was 1.382 million units, an increase of 27.9% year-on-year.

As of August 2020, there are 9 charging piles operated by charging companies in the country with more than 10,000 units. They are: 166,000 units operated by special calls, 139,000 units operated by Xingxing, 100,000 units operated by the State Grid, and Yunkuai It operates 47,000 units, Ewei Energy operates 25,000 units, SAIC Anyue operates 20,000 units, China Potevio operates 14,000 units, Shenzhen Auto Power Grid operates 14,000 units, and Wanma loves charge 10,000 units. These 8 operators accounted for 90.3% of the total, and the remaining operators accounted for 9.7% of the total.
