Recently, Ningde Times said that the company will release batteries with a total cycle life of up to 2 million kilometers and a life span of 16 years. It can now accept orders and produce them. At present, the total mileage of most electric vehicle batteries on the market is 250,000 kilometers, and the life span is 8 years.


According to the company, the core of the self-repairing long-life battery technology in the Ningde era is to slow down the capacity decay rate, that is, to control the rate of active lithium consumption. Capacity attenuation is related to the positive electrode, negative electrode, and electrolyte. In the positive electrode, the new technology reduces the activity of the storage process through self-dormant passivation film technology, and then activates when used, thereby greatly reducing the side reactions of the positive electrode material during cycling and storage. In the negative electrode, the new technology has significantly enhanced the surface stability and bulk stability of the negative electrode material through the low lithium consumption technology, greatly reducing the active lithium consumption during the use of the battery cell, and achieving the performance requirement of ultra-long life. At the same time, the bionic electrolyte technology can display adaptive protection characteristics according to the needs of film formation in different life cycles of the battery cell, and improve the cycle and storage performance of the battery cell.


At the same time, the recent increase in the popularity of power battery acupuncture experiments also seems to show the secret rivalry between Ningde era and BYD, the two major domestic power battery companies. In March this year, BYD released \"blade battery\" with its latest technology. According to the data, the \"blade battery\" is essentially a lithium phosphate battery, and the runaway temperature is higher, safe and reliable. The safety performance of the material is better than other ternary lithium batteries. In addition, according to the manufacturer's publicity, this battery has a service life of 1.2 million kilometers for 8 years and more than 3,000 recharge cycles. These are currently unattainable by the mainstream product ternary lithium battery. At present, BYD has announced that the pure electric vehicle \"Han\" to be launched in June will be equipped with this product. At the same time, due to the demand exceeding expectations, BYD will expand \"blade battery\" production capacity, the Chongqing plant will start from the current annual production capacity of 2GWh Expansion to 12GWh by the end of this year.


In addition, not long ago, Great Wall's subsidiary Honeycomb Energy also released its own \"\"cobalt-free\"\" battery, the first product has a capacity of 115Ah, and the energy density of the battery core is 245wh/kg, which can be carried in most of the current pure electric The platform can achieve 1.2 million kilometers of 15-year warranty and is expected to be launched in June 2021. At the same time, the L6 thin cobalt-free long core product with longer cruising range has a capacity of 226 Ah and can achieve a cruising range of 880 kilometers. It is expected to be mass-produced in the second half of 2021.


In addition to the increasingly fierce competition among domestic battery manufacturers, foreign manufacturers have not stopped moving forward. Samsung said in May this year that the company will produce the fifth-generation Gen5 battery (that is, high-nickel NCA ternary square battery), which will be mass-produced at its Hungarian factory in 2021, which can help electric vehicles drive 600 on a single charge. Above a kilometer (its energy density is at least 600Wh/L), the main advantage of this battery is that the nickel content exceeds 80% (making its energy density 20% higher than competitors), while the cost per kWh is reduced by 20%.


Tesla \"Battery Day\", which has been bounced continuously, has been paid attention to by the market. Although there is no wind, the market rumors about Tesla’s own battery are always endless. According to some media, Tesla has made improvements to its new \"Million Mile Battery\", which is to reduce cobalt and increase the energy density of the battery, which may reduce battery costs. This is a lithium-ion battery that uses a new-generation \"single-crystal\" NMC532 cathode and a new advanced electrolyte to enable electric vehicles to continue driving for 1 million miles (about 1.61 million kilometers). In addition, Tesla CEO Musk also claimed that the company will launch a new battery that can last 1 million miles this year.
